One of my favorite days

You want to know what my favorite part of Halloween is? The day after.

Haha. I am guessing I'm not the only one who isn't a fan of Halloween, but I do have another reason for loving November 1. I can finally bring out the Christmas music!

It's true, I start listening to Christmas music almost a full 2 months before the holiday. When I say I love Christmas, I mean a truly love it. I start mentally counting down the months in July.

Me and my momma

I grew up in a home with a mom who loves Christmas music as much as I do. John Denver and The Muppets album "A Christmas Together" was a classic in our home. We had it on 8 track when I was really young and I remember listening to it on our huge console stereo as a family. When I was a bit older, perhaps 8 or so, my younger brother and I made up a dance routine to "Little Saint Nick" off the same album to perform for my mom and grandma.

So, today is my first November 1 with my son and the tradition continues. Max and I have a dance party each and every afternoon as we get dinner ready and today I'm bringing out the Christmas classics of my family.

It's funny the things that become tradition, the things we hold so dear to our hearts, but sharing Christmas music with my mom is something that has always been so special to me and I'm so thankful I have a little boy to share it with now too.

  1. I think I've bought that same John Denver/Muppet album 4 times! lol! I love music, especially music about the Lord Jesus! In recent years I have begun listening to Christmas music ON halloween to counter the negative vibe from that holiday.

One big reason I love November is because I received one of the most precious gifts ever in this month...a beautiful baby girl! To this day she continues to be a joy in my life! <3

  2. Haha! I thought about boycotting November for that very reason. Your baby girl is 30 in 8 days! :-P

That's a big part of why I like to start on Christmas music early- I want to have time to celebrate Jesus before the craziness starts. I like the idea of starting on Halloween. It's such a yucky "holiday."
